  • House of PainT STREET ART Colouring Book

House of PainT has released its first ever Street Art Colouring Book. This book contains 18 unique colouring pages by 14 different graffiti artists, tattoo artists, and muralists, complemented by quotes from the artists about the importance of graffiti and public art. The House of PainT Street Art Colouring Book is bilingual English/French and makes a great gift for children and adults with its diverse selection of drawings, from simple and young-child friendly, to a handful of detailed and intricate pages for meditative colouring.

We believe in supporting local, and we want you to feel good about buying The House of PainT Street Art Colouring Book for yourself and literally everyone you have ever met. Here’s why it is the perfect #shoplocal #supportlocal item for your holiday shopping list:

    • Most of the 14 artists contributing to this project are living and working in the Ottawa-Gatineau region - and every artist has been paid!

    • The project was managed and layout done in-house by the HoP team in Ottawa

    • The book itself was produced locally in-house at Loudmouth Printhouse in Centretown

    • Only available through House of PainT and at select locally owned retailers

    • Created with the support of ACFO Ottawa’s Bilingual Ottawa program and Wallack’s Art Supplies

    • The profits from Colouring Book sales go directly to House of PainT, a not for profit festival with a mandate to celebrate and elevate hip hop in the nation’s capital. HoP relies on this community support to continue to operate through the COVID-19 pandemic

We hope you will get joy and relaxation out of using this book, and that you will gain a greater appreciation for the artists who draw on walls and other unconventional canvases for all of us to enjoy.

  • OG500 2021 Virtual Poetry Slam August 19 8pm feat. Britta B.

The OG500 is Ottawa's largest annual spoken word event, bringing poetry lovers and urban storytellers across the nation's capital to explore the spoken word and exchange in a live show of wit, verbal acrobatics and theatre. This year, we're taking it online for a high-quality virtual event where the audience still gets to vote in real time!

As House of Paint's signature opening event for the past 6 years, the show has brought in headlining acts such as Maestro Fresh Wes, D'bi Young, The Recipe, Moe Clarke, Sarah MK and the legendary grandfather of Hiphop, Jalal Nuriddin of The Last Poets. This year we are pleased to announce Britta B. as our headliner!

Britta Badour, better known as Britta B., is an award winning artist, spoken word poet, performer, emcee, voice actor and educator. She lives in Toronto.

Most recently, Britta was announced Toronto Arts Foundation’s Emerging Artist of 2021. Her works have featured in print, in sound and onstage across North America in notable spheres such as the Art Gallery of Ontario, CBC Arts: Poetic License, The Walrus Talks, TEDx and The Stephen Lewis Foundation. She is an alumna of the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity Spoken Word Residency and 2018 Toronto Arts Council Leaders Lab Fellow.

As an educator, Britta facilitates artist-training seminars, poetry workshops and social justice programs in partnership with organizations like JAYU, Poetry In Voice, Prologue Performing Arts, League of Canadian Poets and The Power Plant.

10 poets compete in a three round poetry slam where the winner receives $500 cash.

To make the engagement more exciting, all guests are invited to participate in the voting process, breaking the common practice of traditional poetry slams where only 5 judges select the winner of each round.

Tickets for this virtual event are limited, so grab yours while you can! Tickets are pay-what-you-can. We recognize that many people are experiencing financial strain and it's important to House of PainT that this event remains accessible. Please select a ticket price based on your means, from free access to $40. We ask those of greater means to consider paying a higher ticket price to help offset the free tickets, like paying it forward.

You will receive your access to this event via the email address you provide when you check out.
